NSC launches another attack on expat ruling

Written by Taxperience | February 2025

Despite the fact that the party, as a member of the cabinet, previously agreed to the 2025 Tax Plan in which the 30% scheme for expats remained in place, albeit reduced to a 27% scheme (as of 1 January 2027), the party is now again proposing to abolish the scheme.
By abolishing the scheme, the NSC wants to create financial legroom to, among others, reduce the gas tax for consumers and finance bottlenecks in the current disability allowance scheme. Whether and, if so, in which manner, there would be any follow up to such proposal will become clear during the parliamentary proceedings with respect to the cabinet's Spring Memorandum.
